Bethany, Missouri, December 18, 2023 Traveling to a Southwest Christmas
Hi family, When we retired and starting traveling in 2013, Ed would do blog posts to let family and friends know about our travels as well as to be a journal for us. We are spending Christmas this year with my brother Lucien and his wife Joyce and are driving down starting today. My sister Kathy is flying down later in the week to join us. Ed said that he would not be doing a blog until our return trip since he we are “just driving” down to Flagstaff. I said something like…the journey is the destination and I would blog some stuff…so here goes. Chris
It’s Christmas, so we have lots of stuff to take down which Ed has successfully put in the trunk.
We stopped for lunch of our usual yogurt and granola bars at the first rest/tourist info stop in Iowa. The sign above me celebrates immigrants. Many today including evil Trump have forgotten that our ancestors for most Americans were immigrants.
Sun was setting as we drove 35 thru Iowa; we gassed up the car right before entering Missouri.
During one of their trips to visit us this year, Lucien and Joyce stopped in Bethany, Missouri for a meal at Toot Toot Restaurant; operating since 1984. We had dinner tonight there from their yummy buffet.
On to Kansas tomorrow.
